A Tribute to Scott Dinsmore

By Cesar Romero

“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” — Albert Pine

While checking my Facebook account one more time before going to bed, I couldn’t believe what I was reading all over my newsfeed.

The news struck me to my core and made me realize how precious and short life really is.

Scott Dinsmore passed away during a hiking adventure up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania this past weekend.

I was in total shock!!!

He was only 29 years old, had recently married, and was traveling around the world with his wife Chelsea hosting LYL meetups.

My deepest condolences go to the Dinsmore family and the Live Your Legend community.

I never met Scott personally and I never participated in a Live Your Legend event but his Live Your Legend platform, TED talk, and workbooks had such a profound impact on me and I’ll make sure to pass it along to my friends and family.

I stumbled upon Scott’s work a few years ago and it inspired me to keep pushing outside my comfort zone to do work that matters and getting to know more about myself.

It quickly became one of my favorite blogs for personal development and inspiration.

Scott’s Legacy

I believe Scott’s biggest legacy is staying true to himself while building a community of people who refuse to see each other fail; a community of people that genuinely cares for each other; a community of people staying true to themselves while doing work they love.

Scott truly lived his legend!

If you are looking for a community of people supporting each other while pursuing work that matters, check out the Live Your Legend Facebook Group.

Content That Inspired Me To Do Things I Love

His famous TED Talk on How to find and do work you love with over 2m views on YouTube

The 27 questions to find your passion workbook, which helped me get a better understanding of myself and the kind of impact I want to make in the world. These questions are so powerful and I encourage you to use them as a tool to help you find what you are passionate about.

The Connect With Anyone Creed inspired me to build relationships, genuinely care about people, and use my gifts and talents to help as many people as possible.

The Creed of Living Legends inspires me to continuously stay true to myself while doing meaningful work.

There are other resources and tools from Scott’s blog that I’ll continue to explore, but these are the ones that so far have had the biggest impact on me and are probably the biggest lessons I learned from Scott.

The Best Way to Honor Scott

I think the best way to honor Scott and his legacy is by sharing it with people that need it the most and by taking action on it.

Knowing about Scott’s legacy is not enough.

I encourage you to apply it towards your own goals and purpose and help as many people as you can.

Be the influencer.

Be the leader.

Be the amplifier of love and good.

Not tomorrow.

Do it now!

There’s no time to waste.

Only then you will see the depth of Scott’s true legacy.

THANK YOU Scott!

Your legacy will live on and it will continue to make impact!
