“The way people see others is a reflection of themselves” -John Maxwell

The first time I traveled with Courtney was in February 2014 to Nicaragua where she taught me a very important lesson about photography:

She mentioned that the camera lens is the most important piece of equipment for a photographer because it determines the quality of the pictures.

Higher quality lens = higher quality pictures.

Having a skill to capture breathtaking moments is key but the lens helps in amplifying those moments.

I’ve been thinking about this lately and how we all have our own internal lens which determines the way we see everything and how we interact with other people.

If you are closed minded, you will probably see others as closed minded.

If you are trustworthy, you will probably see others as trustworthy.

If you are positive, you will see the bright side of things.

And so on……

The best part about it is that we can always change our lens if we are up for it.

How to get a higher quality lens for your life?

Simple.

By investing in yourself.

The more you invest in yourself the better lens you will have for your life.

You can upgrade your lens by:

Acquiring new skills.

Surrounding yourself with positive like-minded people.

Traveling the world.

Learning a new language.

Reading nonfiction and fiction books.

Working out on a regular basis.

Helping people solve problems.

Eating organic foods.

……and many other things.

The key element is change.

If you change yourself and become the kind of person you aspire to be, you will begin to see things in a whole new way, which will ultimately change the way you interact with the world.

Traveling changed my perspective.

I’ve been traveling the world on a consistent basis since the fall of 2012 and my life hasn’t been the same ever since.

It has opened my eyes to appreciate other cultures, music, and foods taking me outside my comfort zone and becoming more receptive to life-changing experiences.

My priority in life is to create as many awesome experiences as possible with friends, family, and like-minded people.

People will always remember how you made them feel, and I want to help people feel like they matter and their contributions matter.
